KOKKONEN PRAISES ARIZONA IMMIGRATION LAW
Endorses California version of legislation

SAN LUIS OBISPO — 33rd Assembly District candidate and Republican frontrunner Matt Kokkonen is praising the Arizona legislature and Governor Jan Brewer for enacting the nation’s toughest law against illegal immigration. "The new Arizona law should be a model for every state, including California. As the federal government refuses to exercise its constitutional duty to secure our borders, the states – who are bearing the enormous costs of illegal immigration — must step in.”

"We are actually importing Mexico’s criminal gang and drug wars into the United States by refusing to control the border and allow local enforcement officers to arrest anyone in this country illegally. Illegal immigration is costing California over $11 billion per year. Our cities – like Santa Maria – are being turned into gang-infested jungles, our schools, hospitals, and emergency rooms are overwhelmed. Enough is enough."

Kokkonen challenged his opponents in the 33rd Assembly race to publicly endorse the new Arizona law and promise to introduce similar legislation in Sacramento if they are elected. He also challenged the candidates for San Luis Obispo County Sheriff to state publicly where they stand on local law enforcement officers acting to “protect the public good” by arresting “those who have broken the laws of our country by entering illegally.”

Matt Kokkonen is a San Luis Obispo financial planner and political activist. In 2008, he was the Republican nominee for Congress in the 23rd District, receiving over 80,000 votes. Currently, he is a candidate for State Assembly in the 33rd District.
