Dear 33rd District Voter

Dear 33rd District Voter:

New developments in the race for 33rd Assembly District make it more critical than ever for conservatives not to split their votes on June 8, but to unite behind one conservative who can win.

Several recent surveys in the District put me in the lead over Katcho Achadjian:

A Farm Team Consulting online survey gave me a lead of 33% to 19%. Another poll which we believe may have been connected to the Steve Poizner campaign gave me a 37% to 27% lead over Katcho. And, apparently, a third poll commissioned by one of the other candidates in the Assembly race gave me a two-point lead over Katcho.

Regardless of the methodology of each of these surveys and the varying "point spreads," they are all consistent in three respects:

   1. Matt Kokkonen is leading the race
   2. This is a Kokkonen vs. Katcho race
   3. Etta Waterfield trails in a distant third place

Conservatives need to understand how much is at stake in this election. Do we need to elect another Abel Maldonado who will break his promises and vote for higher taxes?

With big Republican gains projected this November, the unpopularity of the Obama Administration, and the rise of the Tea Party movement, should we be sending a mushy moderate to the Assembly? Should we send someone who is guaranteed to cut backroom deals with the special interests, lobbyists, and Democrats who control the legislature?

I say no and I think you probably agree.

The fact is that we must unite behind the one conservative who can win the 33rd Assembly District race. That candidate is me.

Etta Waterfield is a fine person and past supporter of mine. But, polling has consistently shown that she cannot win. Despite a year of campaigning, she is locked in third place, with no real hope to prevail in the primary.

The real danger we face now is Katcho in the Assembly. He has a track record of supporting higher taxes at the local level and supporting the lavish pensions and benefits for government employees which have given San Luis Obispo County a $250 million unfunded liability that you, your children, and grandchildren will have to pay for. Do you know that the SLO County Undersheriff is collecting over $700,000 per year in salary and early retirement?

I am asking you today to give me your support and your vote.

Please understand that conservatives cannot win the 33rd Assembly District race unless we are united. Every survey conducted since the start of my campaign shows without a doubt that I can not only win this race, but that I'm leading! Katcho’s hope and prayer is that you vote for Etta Waterfield and by doing so, elect him.

I ask you to pledge your support to me today, with your vote, a willingness to volunteer a few hours of your time, or a much-needed contribution ( I am raising my money locally while Katcho and Etta are raising special interest money in Sacramento ).

Thank you and please call me at 541-1880 if you have any questions about an issue or about our campaign or go to www.mattforassembly.com

Best regards,

Matt Kokkonen
